In observance of Labor Day, Town Hall will be closed on Monday September 7, 2015. As always, residents can leave any correspondence in the green utility box in the Town Hall parking lot, and staff will collect it on the next business day.  

The Public Hearing for the 2016 Budget will take place on Wednesday September 9, 2015 at 6:30 pm and the final Budget Hearing will be on Wednesday September 23, 2015 at 6:30 pm. Both Public Hearings will take place in the Town Hall Auditorium.

Emogene W. Stegal, Lake County Supervisor of Elections would like to remind residents that they may obtain voter registration information, register to vote, request an absentee ballot and update their voter registration record by contacting the Supervisor of Elections Office at (352) 343-9734 or online at Books close foir the upcoming Special County Referendum and Municipal Election on October 5, 2015.  Early voting  begins October 19 and goes thru October 31, 2015.

Florida Statutes require that you be registered to vote in the State of Florida 29 days prior to an election. 


The following candidates who were nominated for the respective positions have now qualified and their names will be added to the ballot in the election to be held on November 3, 2015

Mayor's Position - Troy Bennett and Joe Wynkoop 

Council Seats (3) - Glenn Burns, Jim Ley, Arthur Nix, Jim Pierce and Judy Smith

The election will take place at First Baptist Church Montverde, Eighth Street, between 7:00 am and 7:00 pm 


The Montverde Day Festival is fast approaching and will take place on November 7th this year.  As usual this will be a fun day for all the family with the Sunshine Amusements Carnival, Live music fearuring the Jim Van Fleet Band, Rob Nichols and Greg Warren Band and exciting activities throughout the day.  There will as always be a designated area within the park which has free booths just for residents who live inside the Town's limits.

Mayor Troy Bennett would like to invite all residents to attend the upcoming Council Meeting.  It will take place on September 8, 2015 at 7:00 pm in the Town Hall Auditorium. There will be a period of Citizen Questions and Public Comment at the beginning of the meeting.  Agenda Items Include:  

  • Second reading of Ordinance 2015-20 Budget Transfer - Funding for Off Duty FHP Patrols
  • Second reading of Ordinance 2015-21 Budget Transfer - Installing lighting on Bike Trail
  • Second reading of Ordinance 2015-13 Budget Transfer - Funds for repair of fire apparatus

Library News

The 4-H Club meets every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month at 4:00 pm in the Helen Lehmann Memorial Library.  

The Homework Assistance program for Students who need help with homework or volunteer hours for school programs meets on Monday's and Wednesday's 4 - 6 pm from August 31, 2015.
